Maria Cristina Pedicchio

Maria Cristina has a long-standing career in research, academic leadership, and institutional governance. She has held senior roles within the Italian and European research landscape, including serving as President of the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS.

She is a Member of the European Commission Mission Board on Ocean and Waters, contributing to the development of strategies and actions addressing key challenges related to water systems and sustainability at European level.

Throughout her career, she has worked to strengthen the links between science, policy, and application, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and integrated approaches to complex environmental challenges. She is actively involved in European cooperation initiatives, contributing to alignment across research, innovation, and policy communities.

As Deputy Chair of the Board, she brings this experience to the One Water Alliance, supporting its coordination and contributing to the development of a more integrated One Water approach across sectors.
